In my work I follow a somatic calling to explore the yet unknown worlds and creatures my paintbrushes can create; born from the primal pleasure of abstract expressionism and sustained by the fascination of the alternate dimensions that emerge.

The pieces are improvised fractally, beginning with large marks and then working into these descriptively with smaller and smaller marks. Through this methodology three-dimensional worlds are woven together. Their forms suggest atmospheres, geological features, organic life and figures and play on the knife’s edge between abstraction and realism - teasing you to look for symbols in the fleshy fluid motion.

Although the mind wants to separate out character and background, one is not separate from the other. They are all part of the same flow of energy, interacting at different complexities. They feel alive and to me represent a reenchanted cosmology - a panpsychist universe where a pleasurable consciousness fills every strand of light.

The paintings embody the biomorphic, subconscious, platonic patterns I see in between and across things. These fractal patterns are deeply intuitive, attractive and exist before and beyond language. They access a space beyond the rational mind, into the sensual swirls and rhythms of the flow of being.

They are presence and nonsense, alien yet familiar, they are my infinite dream worlds of novelty, mystery, and pleasure.
